Billy R. Hazel, 66, of Advance, Missouri, passed away on December 31, 2019, at his home surrounded by loved ones after a battle with cancer. He was born March 13, 1953, near Tillman, Missouri, to Roscoe Bud Hazel and Mildred Wallace Hazel.
Bill attended Advance High School and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1970 where he served in Vietnam.
After his tour of service Bill returned to Advance, Missouri, where he met the love of his life, Terri Renee Moore. After a short engagement Bill and Terri were united in matrimony on November 20, 1977. Bill and Terri renewed their vows on Christmas Day, 2017. They celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary this year.
Bill and Terris early years were filled with both happiness and heartaches. They suffered the loss of a twin boy and girl on November 11, 1978. The following year Bill and Terri welcomed their son Dustyn into the world in 1979, followed by Jordyn in 1984 and Gabryn in 1986.
Bill was a cement mason by trade and belonged to the Cement Masons Local 907. Bill had the opportunity to work closely with his sons, Dustyn and Jordyn and their job site arguments were legendary.
Bill was an outdoorsman and especially loved hunting. Bill often hunted rabbits with his lifelong friend, Rick Rodgers, but his greatest hunting buddy and best friend was his son, Dustyn Hazel.
Bill became a proud grandfather when Gabryn Hazel became a father on November 20, 2018. Bill adored his grandchildren and could often be found driving them around on his lawnmower or pushing them on the swing he made by hand.
Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and he will be sincerely missed.
Survivors include: his wife, Terri Hazel of the home his sons Jordyn Hazel and Gabryn (Leslie) Hazel, of Advance, Missouri two grandchildren Lorelei and Bradyn Hazel of Advance, Missouri two brothers Ben Hazel of Bloomfield, Missouri and Charlie Hazel of Zalma, Missouri four sisters, Louise Ford and Dorothy Sturgeon, both of Advance, Missouri Alice Wright of Gernado, Mississippi, and Regina Ulloa of Rockledge, Florida and many other family members and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents his twin son and daughter two brothers, Ronnie Lee Hazel and Harold Wayne Hazel three sisters Barbara Ann Hazel, Brenda Kay McKenzie, Sharon Lynn Herkenhoff and his son and best friend, Dustyn Hazel.
Visitation will be held on Thursday January 2, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeal Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held on Friday January 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel with Re. Jerri Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
