Ruth Ann Carr, 77, of Zalma, passed away May 22, 2026, at her home. She was born on January 22, 1949, in Gipsy, MO, the daughter of Silas and Mildred James Borders.
Ruth was a graduate of Zalma High School. For almost 30 years she was a dedicated employee for the Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau. She later worked at JC Penny in Cape Girardeau. She was a faithful member of Bethel General Baptist Church near Advance.
More than anything, she treasured being a grandmother. Her grandchildren brought her endless pride and joy. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and word search games.
Ruth and Bobby Joe Carr were united in marriage on November 24, 1968, at Balch Chapel near Zalma, and he survives of the home.
Survivors include: her husband, Bobby Joe Carr, two sons, Bobby Joe (Cabrina Martin) Carr of Jackson and Richard Lee (Brenda) Carr of Cape Girardeau, three brothers, JD Borders of Hermiston, Oregon, John Borders of Gipsy, and James Dink Borders of Coppers Cove, Texas, three sisters, Linda Burger of Rockview, Brenda Cookemboo of Portageville, and Ruby Burchett of Marble Hill, five grandchildren, Tyler Carr, Katelyn McMichael, Davide Gore, and Kayla Cooley, and nine great-grandchildren, Aria Poston, Cam Carr, Isabella Gore, Novaleigh Gore, Harper Ruth McMichael, Kiera Cooley, Carson Cooley, Mya Cooley, and Jamison Cooley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Bradley Carr.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel with Rev. Ray Placher and Rev. Leeman Shirrell officiating. Burial will follow at Balch Cemetery near Zalma.
