Visitation: | 11/25/2020 |
Service: | 11/25/2020 |
Mary Frances Brown was born on May 18, 1931 to James and Emma Eakin in Moreland, AR and passed away peacefully at her Bell City home on November 20, 2020.
Frances moved with her family from Arkansas to Missouri in 1942 to farm on the outskirts of Bell City. On March 20, 1949 she married the love of her life, Tyree Frederick Brown. They met at a church social where Frances was the fortune teller. Her prediction for him was that he was going to meet a pretty girl and fall in love. Little did he know she was talking about herself. On May 1, 1954 they had one son, Fred Lynn Brown.
Soon after Fred was born, Tyree built a drilling rig, and he and Frances started drilling water wells throughout the area. She welded their screens and helped Tyree on the rig. When Fred was old enough, he joined them with the family operation that is now Brown Well Drilling in Bell City.
During retirement, Frances enjoyed attending the monthly birthday club with her friends, and meeting with her fellow Heartland Quilters Guild. She watched the drilling employees load up for the day, and insisted they report in on what all work had been completed at the end of the day. She loved keeping up with the business she established. Sundays were spent at the A-Frame Church in Bell City, where she enjoyed sharing candy with the sweet children. She also loved shopping with her nieces. Piecing quilts and crocheting were favorite hobbies, as well as baking an abundance of Christmas cookies and candies. In her spare time she also baked and decorated wedding cakes. From welding to quilting and baking, Frances was a very talented individual.
She is survived by one son, Fred and wife Barbara Brown one granddaughter, Amy and husband Matt Nichols and three great grandchildren, Addie Nichols, Eli Brown, and Huck Brown. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who were a big part of her life.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, husband Tyree, grandson Ty, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Weds. November 25, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
