Norman Peter Pete West, 93, of Zalma, passed away November 5, 2023, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born July 14, 1930, in Arab, MO, the son of Buford and Stella Marie Ward West.
Pete had been a longtime farmer. Previously he had spent 30 years working at East Texas Motor Freight in St. Louis, MO. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. Pete was a member of the Greenbrier Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing.
Pete and Ellen Ilene Gregory were united in marriage on March 6, 1954 in Marble Hill and she survives of the home.
Survivors include: his wife, Ellen West two sons, Norman Wink (Tammy) West of Pocahontas, MO and David (Leslie) west of St. Louis two daughters, Sue (Dave) Mattea of Phoenix, AZ and Barb (Mike) Montes of Winchester, KY a brother, Donnie West of Bull Shoals, AR nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents two brothers, Tom West and Peck West and three sisters, Delphie Sis Jackson, Lois Gebro and Veda Deckard.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, MO. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel with Rev. Leeman Shirrell officiating. Burial will follow at Brush Creek Cemetery near Zalma, MO.
