Mary Beatrice Thompson, 83, of Advance, passed away December 18, 2023, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born February 26, 1940, in Bloomfield, the daughter of Rebel A. and Mary M. B. Harper McMillion.
Bea had been a member of the Philadelpia Missionary Baptist Church. She was a 1958 graduate of Bloomfield High School. She had been employed at the Inland Shoe Factory in Advance, Elder Mfg. in Bloomfield, and lastly for 25 years at Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau until it closed in 1999.
Beas family was the most important to her. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world and she loved them endlessly.
Bea and Charles Sonny Lee Thompson were united in marriage on October 18, 1958, in Glover, MO and he preceded her in death on January 9, 1995.
Survivors include: a son, Clay (Sherry) Thompson of Puxico two grandchildren, Erin (Justin) Caldwell and Clint (Mara) Thompson four great-grandchildren, Garrett Caldwell, Colton Caldwell, Wyatt Caldwell, Amelia Thompson, and another blessing on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents her husband three daughters, Lesa Blankenship, Julie VanderMierden, and Rena Clifton a son, Brandon Thompson and two brothers, Ray Gene McMillion and Edward McMillion.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel with Rev. Ray Placher officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
