Donald Howard Markham Winchester, 83, of Marble Hill, passed away in an automobile accident near Delta, on June 13, 2024. He was born July 23, 1940, the son of Norman Richard and Pearl Ann Harris Markham.
Donald had worked as a sawmiller, a weld repair grinder on the pipeline and in maintenance at McDonald Douglas. He spent most of his life as a farmer. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army he served as an Amry cook. He was a lifelong member of the Jackson American Legion.
He had been a member and deacon at Dongola Friendship Church. He was a founding member of the Dongola Friendship Cemetery Board of Directors.
Donald was an outdoorsman, watching wildlife was a favorite hobby. Donald and his family enjoyed spending time together hunting and fishing. He was a lover of guns and knives. He enjoyed watching westerns on television.
He loved his family very much. His family and friends loved him for his big heart. He was known for always being willing to lend a helping hand.
Donald and Barbara Rose Griffard were united in marriage on September 7, 1968, in Minnith, MO and she survives of the home.
Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Winchester, a son, Norman Winchester of Zalma, a daughter, Carrie Winchester of Chaffee, a brother, James Winchester of Michigan, three grandchildren, Brandon Paul Winchester, Austin Isaiah Winchester, and Felicity Dawn Winchester, and two great-grandchildren, Roxas Paul Winchester, and Alby Lee Winchester.
He was preceded in death by his fathers, Norman Richard Markham and Omar Edward Winchester, his mother, Pearl Ann Markham, a son, DeWayne Winchester, two brothers, Scott Markham and Jerry Winchester, and a sister, Joyce Holder.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel with Rev. Ronnie McAtee officiating. Burial will follow at Dongola Friendship Cemetery in Dongola, MO, with full Veterans Honors.
