Carolyn Anita Ritter of Cape Girardeau, MO, formerly of Advance, MO transitioned to her heavenly home surrounded by her family at her residence on October 19, 2025, at the age of 81. She was born on March 19, 1944, in Sturdivant, MO, the daughter of Leeman (Jinks) and Lyla Baker Shell.
Carol attended Zalma High School. She was united in marriage to Carl Pete Ritter who preceded her in death on January 7, 2025. During their marriage they were blessed with two sons, Carl Dean Ritter Jr. and Stephen Bubby Ritter. She was known for the love and compassionate care she had provided for Bubby over the 57 years of his life. Carol was a member of Bethel General Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by a son, Carl Dean Ritter, Jr. and his wife, Angela Staats Ritter, of Cape Girardeau, two grandchildren, who were so special to her heart, Jared Staats Ritter of Cape Girardeau and Kacie Caroline Ritter Speight of Cape Girardeau and her husband, Eric Speight, along with six great grandchildren, Gwenyth, Jerron, Blakely, Karter, Nolan, and Boston, two sister, Charlotte Woodland and Sandy Long.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Stephen Bubby Ritter, two brothers, Ralph Shell and Don Shell and sister Vivian Rhodes.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 5pm to 8pm with funeral services on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 10:00 am at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, MO. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
