Wilburn Maurice Proffer of Advance, MO passed away on Saturday, January 04, 2020, at the age of 89. He was born November 23, 1930 in Hahn, MO, the son of Maurice Clifton and Ruth Eacker Proffer.
Wilburn retired from McDonnell-Douglas Corp. in 1985. He was one of the founding members of West Side General Baptist Church where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and choir director. Wilburn also sang in a quartet. Several years after retirement, Wilburn and his first wife Charlotte moved to Jackson, Missouri, where they joined Connection Point Church, and he sang in the choir.
He is survived by his wife Mildred Proffer his children Linda (Tom) Simpson, Roger Proffer, David Proffer, and stepson Anthony (Deb) Proffer 6 grandchildren 11 great-grandchildren two sisters Opal (Webster) Eaker and Ada Proffer and his step-brother Charles Rhodes.
Wilburn was preceded in death by his first wife Charlotte his father Maurice Proffer his mother Ruth Rhodes stepfather Milas Rhodes his brothers Clifton Proffer, Odis Proffer, Everett Proffer, Luther Rhodes, and Buford Rhodes and his sisters Ruby Umfleet and Kathleen Osborne.
Visitation will be held on Weds. January 8, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Chris Vaught officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimers Association or The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
