Lois Barrett, 96, of Advance passed away September 11, 2026, at Aspire Senior Living. She was born October 16, 1929, in Gipsy, the daughter of John Wesley and Hattie Mae Ritchey Porter.
Lois worked a few different jobs throughout her years. She worked for Inland Shoe Company in Advance, International Hat Company in Marble Hill, before retiring from Homeplate Caf in Zalma. Lois was a member of the Zalma Baptist Church.
Lois and Clinton Barrett were united in marriage on December 21, 1946, in Marble Hill. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1966.
Survivors include a son, Johnny (Judy) Barrett of Foley, Alabama, a daughter, Wanda (Jim)Woodfin of Advance, a sister, Evelyn Bay of Foley, Alabama, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, many more nieces, nephews and close friends.
Lois was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Raymond, and Charles Porter, three sisters, Ethel Cemows, Thelma Edminaston, and Mary Hoggard, lots of nieces and nephews also.
Services will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance visitation will be held Monday September 14, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, funeral will be held Tuesday September 15, 2026 at 11:00 am with a burial following at Berrong Cemetery.
