Larry Dale Roper, 75, of Advance, Missouri, was born May 20, 1951, and passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on September 6, 2026.
Larry leaves behind a lifetime of hard work, unforgettableand sometimes unbelievablestories, and a family who loved him dearly.
A true cowboy at heart, Larry was happiest with a horse beneath him, a little dirt on his boots, and his family close by. He spent countless hours riding and caring for his horses, from training to trail riding. He always said that riding a cutting horse was the most fun you could have with your pants on.
Larry was also a hardworking man who took great pride in the many buildings he helped construct through PR Developers and other companies. Among those projects were Bud Shell Ford, the Rice Mill in New Madrid, and numerous nursing homes, including Aspire Nursing Home in Advance.
Throughout his lifetime, Larry was fortunate enough to experience many different trades and careers, including working at GM Motors and U.S. Continental Steel corporation, selling cars and farm equipment, and team driving a truck with Phoebe. Of all the jobs he held, one of his favorites was working for Tom Hart in his horse barn, which sparked his love for cutting horses. For the last 15 years, Larry drove a truck for Yield Plus.
His work was a reflection of who he was: dependable, determined, hardworking, and proud.
Larry carried many titles throughout his life, but the ones he was most proud of were being a husband to Phoebe, a father to his sons, and Grandpa to some and Papa to others. On June 1, 1997, he married Phoebe (Moore) Roper, in Hawaii. Together, Larry and Phoebe shared 31 years of love, laughter, hard work, adventures, and memories.
Larry is survived by his wife, Phoebe four sons, Derick Roper of Pocahontas, Arkansas Darren (Mandy) Roper of Advance Morgan (Krista) Roper of Marble Hill and Colbey Roper of Advance six grandchildren, Taylor (Blake) Seabaugh, Jaden Roper, Chloe Roper, Natalee Roper, Rylee Roper, and Colton Roper and two great-grandchildren, Huntleigh and Jaxton Seabaugh. He is also survived by two sisters, Barbara (Dean) Phillips of Advance and Patricia Stoker of Brownwood one brother, Eddie Roper of Advance and many, many nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie and Sue Roper, and two brothers, Ronnie Roper and Ricky Roper.
Larry will be remembered for his cowboy spirit, his hardworking hands, his love of horses, his crazy stories, and, most of all, the fierce love he had for his family. Though he may no longer be riding beside us, his boots will never truly be empty. His lessons, his stories, and his love will continue to live on through the generations he leaves behind.
Ride on, cowboy.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel with Rev. Alan Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Point Cemetery in Swinton, MO.
