In loving memory of Kenneth Dave VanMatrea husband, a father, a Papa, a brother, a friend, and, to so many of us, simply one of the best human beings we have ever had the privilege of knowing.
Kenneth passed peacefully at home on September 7, 2026. And while there are no words that can make losing him easier, there is something comforting in knowing that he left this world peacefully, at home, and surrounded by the love that meant so much to him.
He retired from the U.S. Navy after proudly serving his country for more than 20 years. He served in Desert Storm.
He leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Janice, the love of his life.
He leaves behind his children: Matthew, who went before him Erin, married to Timothy Geoffrey, married to Michelle and Melissa, married to John. He leaves behind his seven grandchildren: Kyndra, Rylan, Lincoln, Shelby, Daniel, Sophie, and Spencer.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO, with full Military Honors.
