Billie Lynn Autry, 87, of West Plains, MO, passed away September 13, 2021 at Baxter Medical Center in Mountain Home, AR. He was born January 8, 1934 in Henderson, TN, the son of Louis Ellis and Virdie Johnson Autry.
Billie proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years, 10 months and 19 days. He bravely served in the Korean War. He was honorable discharged as a Chief Master Sergeant. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Device, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with 5 oak Leaf Cluster, Army Good conduct Medal with 2 Devices and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters. He was also a member of the Church of Christ.
Billie and Betty Jean Abner were united in marriage on February 22, 1957 in Waycross, GA and she survives of the home.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty Autry two sons, Bruce (Sandy) Autry of West Plains, MO and Mark (Lisa) Autry of St. Louis, MO a brother, Norman Autry of Nixa, MO two sisters, Mary Johnson of Wappappello, MO and Loretta Sullivan of Poplar Bluff nine grandchildren, Marshall Blake, Jordan, Chloe, Lily, Penelope, Jonathan, Matthew, Emilee and Aaron and a great-grandson, Blake.
He was preceded in death by his parents two brothers, Noble Pershing Autry and Arbie Autry and three sisters, Virginia Lee Swofford, Wynema Alford and Ebajean McIver.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the chapel with Rev. Mike Lee officiating. Burial will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.
