David Dalton Powers, 80, of Advance, passed away January 9, 2021 at the Advance Nursing Center. He was born April 1, 1941 in Tallapoosa, MO, the son of True Victor and Wilma Gladys Bryant Powers.
David had been the head mechanic at Powers Brothers Standard Station and Plaza Tire. He had attended school at Rock Point and Advance High School.
In his younger years he had been a farmer and loved old tractors. David was a scrap metal recycler, he picked up scrap metal in the Advance area. He had also enjoyed coaching youth baseball in Cape Girardeau.
David always had a smile and a joke. He loved his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
David and Shelba Senciboy were united in marriage on August 29, 1959 in Shawneetown, IL and she preceded him in death in 1991.
Survivors include: three sons, David Powers of Cape Girardeau, Jerry Powers of Pleasant Plains, IL and Lance Powers of Cape Girardeau a daughter, Tammy Powers of Cape Girardeau four brothers, John Powers of St. Louis, James C. Powers of Cape Girardeau, Dwight Powers of Cape Girardeau and Chester Powers of Advance six grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Erin, Shelby, Lynsey and Ty and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents his wife, Shelba Powers three brothers, True Victor Powers, Jr, Doyle Powers and Roger Powers three sisters, Lenora, Margie Lou and Doris and two grandsons, Tommy Powers and Kevin Graham.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel with Rev. Gary Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
