Kathy Ann Younger Overbey, 74, of Advance, passed away May 12, 2024, at Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born November 1, 1949, in Bloomfield, MO, the daughter of Russell and Beaulah Jackson Hughes.
Kathy had worked at the Homeplate restaurant in Zalma for many years. She was a member of the Zalma General Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading historical romance novels, talking, and telling jokes. She loved and adored her grandchildren.
Kathy was a good and kindhearted woman who always had a smile on her face.
Kathy and Leo Younger were united in marriage on June 29, 1968, at Berrong Church in Gipsy, MO. She later married Rick Overbey on January 21, 1995.
Survivors include: a son, Russell (Cassi) Younger of Burfordville, MO, a daughter, Judi (Lynn Below) Younger of Chaffee, a sister, Barbara Lemons of Advance, a brother, Ronnie Hughes of Pearland, TX, a daughter-in-law, Loretta Overbey of Zalma, a step-daughter, Jessica Davis of Gipsy, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Ferell and Mary Hughes, a stepson, Donnie Overbey, and two nephews, Jimmy Fields and Lucas Lemons.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel with Rev. Aaron Lingle officiating. Burial will follow at Berrong Cemetery in Gipsy, MO.
