Myron Charles Minton, 66, of Advance, passed away January 10, 2025, at his home. He was born July 2, 1958, in St. Charles, MO, the son of John Henry and Amy Edna Tolliday Minton.
Myron had a 48-year career with Town and Country grocery stores. He began working for the company at the store in Fredericktown, then the store in Ironton and finally the store in Advance. He retired from the Advance store as the General Manager in September 2023. During his career Myron hired countless area high school students at the Advance T&C. He always carefully worked the weekly work schedule to make sure all the kids never missed a school event or athletic event. He was known for his constant kindness and generosity of donating and giving to the community. He genuinely and faithfully cared about others and especially programs helping schools and youth groups or sports teams.
He was a member of the Fairview General Baptist Church and a member of the Advance Old Mens Basketball League. Myron was a huge sports fan, coaching tee ball, softball, little league and basketball. He was also a sideline coach, often yelling pressure from the bleachers.
Myron was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He loved to hunt rabbits with his beagle dogs. He also enjoyed growing a large garden, never eating any of the vegetables he grew, only giving it all away to others. He raised blackberries and made many pies with them to give to friends.
Myron was a family man and loved every second of being PaPa to his grandchildren.
Everyone who had met or knew Myron can tell a story and would only have wonderful things to say about him. He was a friend to all and had a heart bigger than his body.
Myron and Robin Crites were united in marriage on September 17, 1982, at Fairview General Baptist Church and she survives of the home.
Survivors include: his wife, Robin Minton, a daughter, Missy (Austin) Hake of Advance, two grandchildren, Morgan and Avery Hake of Advance, two brothers, Kenny (Elfie) Minton of Tampa, FL and Mick (Dana) Minton of Chesterfield, MO, a sister, Linda (Scott) Cureton of Fredericktown, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Derek and David Minton and a sister, Barb Tripp.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel with Rev. Earl Elfrink and Rev. Ronnie McAtee officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery near Advance.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made. Please give any donations to Robin Minton, as Myron had requested many different organizations to be donated to.
