Betty Jean Autry, 89, of Advance, passed away July 27, 2025, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born April 8, 1936, in Painton, MO, the daughter of Willie Frank and Earlene Matheny Abner.


Betty was a 1954 graduate of Bell City High School. She excelled at volleyball and graduated second in her class. She was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where she served as a dental assistant.


She was a military wife and mother, while also being a beautician. Later in life she became a ward clerk for 25 years at the Sikeston Delta Community Hospital. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. Betty was an accomplished and award-winning quilter. She enjoyed spending time with her family.


Betty and Billie Lynn Autry were united in marriage on February 22, 1957, at Waycross, Georgia and he preceded her in death on September 13, 2021.


Survivors include: two sons, Mark (Lisa) Autry of St. Louis and Bruce (Sandy) Autry of West Plaines, MO., nine grandchildren, Jonathan Autry, Matthew Autry, Emilee Autry, Aaron Autry, Marshall Autry, Jordan Autry, Chloe Autry, Lily Autry, and Penelope Autry, two great-grandchildren, Blake Autry and Quinn Autry, five brothers, Martin Boots Abner of Bloomfield, Lester Abner of Bloomfield, Tommy Abner of Joliet, IL, Ben Abner of Jackson and Richard Abner of Oswego, IL, and four sisters, Melba Stopher of Aurora, IL, Dean Fowler of Advance, Bonnie Bishop of Montgomery, IL and Connie Schafer of Schaumburg, IL.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sister, Joann and Pearline.


Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.
