Charlotte Virginia Woodland, 86, of Union, MO, passed away March 7, 2026, at Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born the daughter of Leeman and Lyla Becker Shell.
Charlotte loved being a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time gardening, square dancing, and bowling. She attended Real Living Church in St. Clair.
Charlotte and John Bess were united in marriage, and he preceded her in death on October 29, 1984. She was then united in marriage to Larry Woodland on March 2, 1991, in St. Louis, he survives the home.
Survivors include: four sons John (Pattie) Bess of Abilene, KS, Michael (Nancy) Bess of Troy, Mo, Stanley (Sheila) Bess of Lake of Ozarks, Mo, Edwin Bess of Crestwood, Mo, two daughters, Angela (Leon Brouck) Bess of Hillsboro, Mo, and Sandra (Steven) Criscione of Festus, Mo, a sister, Sandra Long of Advance, Mo, grandchildren, Krystal (Dustin) Brooks, Michael (Alysha) Bess, Chilsai (Landry) Faherenkrog, Hailey Bess, Spencer (Emily) Bess, Daniel (Elise) Bess, Stephanie Bess, Nichole (Tommy) Hanks, Joshua (Mindy) Martin, Jacob Martin, Dave (Jenny) Bess, Joe Bess, Danielle (John) Bess, Heather Bess, Samantha Bess, Christian Bess, Stephen Bess, and Hannah Bess, great-grandchildren, Avaigh Bashsm, Henry Fahernkrog, Brynlee Bess, Jeanny Martin, Jeremiah Bess, Auden Moser, Amelya Moser, Lyllie OToole, Rylan Bess, Abby Bess, Nevaeh Bess, Izayah Seemayer, and Elijah Seemayer, and a great-great-grandchild, Corrine Moser.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Bess, brother Don Shell, daughter-in-law, Gia Bess, 2 sisters, Carol Ritter and Vivian Rhodes.
Services will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel on Friday March 13, 2026. The visitation will be 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral at 1:00 pm. Fred Ritter will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
