Glondia Omega Hawkins, 90, of Brownwood, MO, passed away April 29, 2019 at the home of her son, Kevin Hawkins.
Omega was born in Brownwood on July 15, 1928, the daughter and only child of Oscar and Gertie Shirrell Long.
Omega and Shirley N. Hawkins of Chaffee were united in marriage on September 12. 1948 in Brownwood and he preceded her in death on August 9, 1987.
She was a graduate of Advance High School. She had been employed as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Advance. Omega and her husband had owned and operated Hawkins Grocery Store in Brownwood until his death.
She was a member of the Brownwood General Baptist Church. A member and Past Matron of Sikeston Chapter #137 Order of the Eastern Star, dual member of Jackson Chapter, Past Deputy Grand Matron and Past Grand Representative of West Virginia in Missouri.
Survivors include: four sons, Terry (Andra) Hawkins of Zalma, Larry (Terry Lynn) Hawkins of Bell City, Keith (Lori) Hawkins of Dubuque, Iowa and Kevin (Nanie) Hawkins of Oran two daughters, Deborah Hay of Advance and Donna (Gary) DeLay of Advance eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday May 2, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, with Order of the Eastern Star Rites at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday May 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel with Bro. Kevin Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Brownwood Cemetery in Brownwood, MO.
