Mary L. Gowen, 92, of Marble Hill, passed away June 26, 2019 at Woodland Hills Nursing Center in Marble Hill. She was born September 11, 1926 in Sheperdsville, KY, the daughter of Almer and Amanda Brown Burke.
Mary had been an inspector at the Inland Shoe Factory in Advance. Later she became a school cook for Zalma Schools. She was a member of Little Flock Baptist Church in Zonton, KY. She attended Berrong Baptist Church near Zalma. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and making quilts.
Mary and Clifford Gowen were united in marriage on November 30, 1945 at Piggott, AR and he preceded her in death on December 2, 2001.
Survivors include: four sons, Daniel (Sue) Gowen of Many, LA, Donald (Donna) Gowen of Leopold, Bob (Lisa) Gowen of Glen Allen and Jerry (Susie) Gowen of McGee two daughters, Patricia (Roy) Cross of Lancaster, PA and Janet (Greg) Sechrest of Marble Hill 17 grandchildrn 37 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents a sister and four brothers.
Visitation will be held on Sunday June 30, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held on Monday July 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel with Rev. Dan Overton and Rev. LeeRoy Hefner officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
