Johnny Lee Carter, 69, of Jackson, MO, passed away March 23, 2025, at Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born October 19, 1955, in Poplar Bluff, the son of Doyle Edward and Shirley Crider Carter.
Johnny was a 1974 graduate of Zalma High School. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He spent many years working as a logger and surveyor. He attended and was baptized at Connection Point Church in Jackson.
He enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and was a sports of all kinds enthusiast. He loved watching his grandchildren, nieces and nephews sports teams.
Survivors include: his mother, Shirley Carter of Jackson, three sons, Johnny (Pam) Carter of Cape Girardeau, Kris Kinder of Sikeston, and Joe (Sonya) Kinder of Sedgewickville, four sisters, MaLinda (Roy) Bryan of St. Augustine, TX, Teresa Burns of Puxico, Katie Morgan of Jackson, and Tracy (Blaine) Russell of Gordonville, 11 grandchildren, Reese Carter, Bre Carter, Ryan Kinder, Joshua Kinder, Kara Kinder, Gabriel Lindsay, Karter Lindsay, Kendra Kinder, Joseph Kinder, II, Brody Kinder, and Titan Kinder.
He was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Carter.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the chapel with Rev. Kevin Mann officiating. Burial will follow at Berrong Cemetery near Gipsy, MO.
