Carl Edwin Cookson, affectionately known as Uncle Money to some of his nieces and nephews, of Puxico, peacefully passed away on May 17, 2025, at the age of 77 years, 5 months, and 14 days, at the Advance Nursing Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Carl was born July 12, 1947, on his familys farm in Puxico, the son of Lawrence and Emma Faye Sifford Cookson. Carl lived the majority of his life in the Puxico area. He built a career as a sales representative for mobile homes, storage buildings, and consignment stores. He had a natural talent for connecting with people, often engaging in lively conversation and wheeling and dealing with the customers. He also enjoyed sitting, talking and visiting with his friends.
On January 31, 1969, he married his sweetheart, Sue Bagby of Advance. Together they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. To this union, God sent them two wonderful daughters, Reine (Rich) Lacy of Oran and Mina Jane (Sam) Jenkins of North Carolina. He was also a proud grandfather to his cherished grandson, Christopher Jenkins of North Carolina.
Survivors include: his devoted wife, Sue Cookson, of the home, two daughters, grandson, brothers, Ray Cookson of Puxico, Henry (Ruby) Cookson of Gipsy, and Ralph (Jeanie) Cookson of Bonne Terre, MO, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Emma Faye Cookson and a stillborn brother, Bobby Cookson.
A celebration of Carls life will be held on May 24, 2025, at Brown General Baptist Church in Puxico. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. and service at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Tony Cookson, Rev. Adrian Cookson, and Rev. Jonny Buttry will officiate.
Carls warm spirit, engaging personality, and love for his family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
