Evelyn Louise Hunt, 82, of Bell City, passed away at her home on May 29, 2025. She was born November 12, 1942, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Oliver Gilbert and Dorothy Evelyn Jenkins Spears.
Evelyn was a 1960 graduate of Bell City High School. She was also a 1976 graduate of LPN school in Sikeston. She had worked as an LPN at various health establishments over the years, including being the school nurse at Bell City school for many years. She was known as the town nurse, often helping community members with their medical needs.
Evelyn was an active member of the Bell City General Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time camping. She was a sports enthusiast, but most importantly a fan and supporter of the Bell City Cubs sports teams.
Her life revolved around her family, her faith, her church, her community, and the Bell City Cubs.
Evelyn married her high school sweetheart, Carl Edward Hunt on January 4, 1962, in Bell City, he preceded her in death on September 10, 2023.
Survivors include: son, Kevin Wayne (Stacey) Hunt of Bell City, daughter, Sonja Kaye Wright of Cape Girardeau, five grandchildren, Marshall Blake (Heather) Autry, Jordan Autry, McKenzie (Danny) Wright, McKayla (Peyton) Maddox and Austin Hunt of Eielson Air Force Base Fairbanks, Alaska, three great-grandchildren, Blake Autry, Quinn Autry and Sammy Wright and two more great-grandchildren on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother and sisters, Eugene Spears, Imogene Hawkins, Nadine Heath, and Vivian Thompson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at the chapel with Rev. Roger Overbey officiating. Burial will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.
