Ana E. Leon Aponte, 77, of Advance, passed away January 17, 2026, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born December 20, 1948, in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Santiago Leon and Luz America Aponte.
Esther had been a machine operator at Anvil Internation Inc. from 1999 until she retired in 2022.
To know her was to love her. She had a laugh that was truly unique, hugs that felt like home, and a voice like no other. She was kindhearted and always willing to help anyone. She would give you the shirt off her back. She had a passion for gardening. She was proud of everything she grew, and that love followed her straight from the garden into the kitchen. With music blasting, she would dance around the kitchen, no measuring spoons, or cups in sight. She cooked entirely from the heart, and you could taste the love in every bite. She used her creativity by sewing and crocheting beautiful items. She loved elephants.
Esther had been united with Miguel A. Jimenez.
Loving survivors include: two sons, Gerardo (Marisol) Jimenez Leon of Columbia, PA and Angel R. (Shonell) Leon of Advance, a daughter, Wanda (Waldo) Malpica of Advance, a step-son, Scotte (Monica) Jimenez of Redding, PA, two sisters, Maria Leon of Buffalo, NY and Carmen Leon Garcia of Ponce, PR, 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Miguel A. Jimenes Leon and Angel L. Jimemez.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel with Rev. Fred Ritter officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
