Matthew Blake VanMatre, 37, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on February 24, 2026.
Matthews passing leaves a space that can never be filled. He was a son taken too soon, a brother who stood fiercely protective of his family, and an uncle whose love knew no limits. Though he left us before our parents, the imprint of his life will remain in their hearts forever.
He is survived by his parents Janice and Kenneth VanMatre, sister Erin and her husband Timothy along with his beloved niece Kyndra and nephew Rylan Rodgers his brother Geoff and wife Michelle, niece Shelby Hickman, nephews Daniel Hickman and Lincoln VanMatre and his sister Melissa and husband John, niece Sophie and nephew Spencer Lamb. He also leaves behind countless family members and friends who were blessed to know his loyalty, humor, and generous spirit.
Matthew was funny in a way that could light up a room. He was stubborn in the way only someone who cares deeply can be. He loved unconditionally and would do anything for the people he cared about no questions asked. His soft heart was often hidden behind a teasing smile, but those closest to him knew the depth of his compassion.
He found joy in crafting, in creating with his hands, and in spending time with friends and family. For Matthew, it was never about the activity it was about the people. Being together was what mattered most to him.
Though his time with us was far too short, the love he gave so freely will continue to echo through the lives he touched. His laughter, his protectiveness, his unwavering devotion to family these are the things that will live on.
He will be deeply missed, fiercely loved, and forever remembered.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at the chapel with Brianna Keene officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
